Early Childhood Learning Agency
In February 2008, the Throne Speech called for the creation of an Early Childhood Learning Agency to “assess the feasibility and costs of full school day kindergarten for five-year-olds” and conduct a “feasibility study of providing parents with the choice of day-long kindergarten for four-year-olds by 2010, and for three-year-olds by 2012.” The Early Childhood Learning Agency was given the responsibility of reporting by the end of 2008.  To help us gather your views, a consultation paper will be available in early June 2008 on the Early Childhood Learning Agency website (www.bced.gov.bc.ca/ecla ), with opportunities to respond online or by written submission. This stage of the consultation will be open for a month.
